PJO Planner

Status: Interest Check Open!

Info

This planner will be centered around the PJO universe. The layout will be designed as an in-universe planner to be used by demigods on quests or in school. Specific spreads and trackers will be included based off of interest, however the planner in general will be kept as simple as possible. Demigods don't have much time to fill out dozens of planner pages when on the run.

Will the project be physical?

We're currently planning on it being a physical planner!

What merch will there be?

Merch will be centered around the stationary theme so that it can pair nicely with the planner! Printable trackers, stickers, bookmarks, and notepads are the more likely merch items that will be offered!

Will this project be for-profit or for-charity?

This project will be for charity. The charity is currently undecided. However we have decided to focus on a charity providing relief to Gaza. The specific charity will be voted on by our contributors.

How many contributors will be accepted?

We'll be keeping the team relatively small. The numbers will likely turn out to be around 2 poets, 3 merch artists, 12 page artists, and 1 cover artist. Numbers will be confirmed closer to contributor applications for the project.

How will contributors be compensated?

-All contributors will be guaranteed a full digital bundle and the ability to purchase any physical items at production cost.- Pending adequate sales during pre-orders, we hope to compensate shipping or the cost of items entirely — our aim is to cover a full bundle for each contributor.- Profits not spent on item compensation will be donated to a charity of choice upon completion of the project. A full breakdown of compensation tiers will be available upon acceptance to the project.

How will mods keep in contact with contributors?

Mods will stay in contact with contributors through email and in a Discord server. With this said, contributors must have a discord account or should set up another set of communication with the mods. Failure to communicate will result in removal from the zine.

Will there be guest contributors?

Yes, we will be inviting guest contributors. The amount invited will likely be around 4-5.

Is there an age requirement?

We will be accepting contributors that are 16+.

- engaging backgrounds (not single flat color or gradients)
- and strong composition
🖊Page Artists will be asked to create a single-page page art piece as a header to a specific month, as well as design spot art to accompany a poet’s poem for that month. Months will be assigned based on your preferences shared in the application.🖊Artists will be asked to submit 3 of their best works, along with a portfolio of any other works you would like to include.🖊Your portfolio can be a link to your Instagram or it can be a Google Drive including any other art you would like to submit with your application. Please make sure that the Google Drive is viewable with the link.🖊Please submit only finished pieces as your best works. Pieces in your portfolio do not have to be completely finished, but it is highly recommended. Pieces with color but no background are fine in the portfolio. Please refrain from submitting sketches.🖊At least one piece must be focused on the PJO universe. It is recommended that all 3 pieces be related to PJO but only one is required.

Merch Artist Guidelines

🖊Merch Artists will be evaluated on:
- use of color and lighting
- human anatomy
- stylistic choices
- merch-appropriate styling (see below)
- and strong composition.
🖊Merch Artists will be asked to create at least two (2) physical merch items & one (1) digital merch item. Digital merch items can include repurposed art from physical merch items (i.e. reusing sticker art as an icon). These will be assigned based on your preferences shared in the application.🖊Previous experience is not required, and mods will be able to guide contributors through the process of creating merch as needed. However, contributors should submit samples that show an awareness of merchandise design.
This may include having unified cutlines, using merch-appropriate silhouettes, creating appealing designs with strong lines or limited colors, etc.
🖊Merch Artists are asked to submit:
- 3 samples that best demonstrate your style & skill level
- at least 1 sample must be artwork suitable for merchandise
- a portfolio with at least 5 total pieces (can include the 3 samples)
- and an optional pitch describing your ideas for the project
🖊Google Drive links are preferred, but other portfolio sites (Carrd, Artstation, etc.) are acceptable. Please ensure that the art is accessible.🖊Percy Jackson samples are highly encouraged but not required.🖊Merch artists will be asked to submit 3 samples of either merch they have previously made/sold or merch designs, along with a portfolio of any other works you would like to include. Prints applicants should submit 3 pieces of their art, along with the portfolio.🖊The pieces in the portfolio do not have to be merch pieces. It can include art pieces you have done. This portfolio can be a link to your Instagram, shop, or Google Drive that is accessible through the link.🖊Please only submit finished pieces if applying to design prints. These should be fully colored with a background.🖊Pieces do not have to be PJO focused. For those applying for prints, it is recommended that one piece be related to PJO. However, physical merch like charms and stickers are not required to be PJO focused.

Poet Guidelines

🖊Poets will be evaluated on the following:
- The ability to convey a complete narrative (note that this does not require a beginning, middle, & end but rather a fully conceptualized idea or evocative thought at the core of the poem, though traditional story-style narratives are also welcome)
- The ability to utilize poetic devices and structures (both traditional and abstract) to drive flow, pacing, and rhythm consistently and effectively through the poem
- The ability to apply themes throughout the poem in a way that aligns with the poetic structure & elements utilized without detracting from the core narrative
🖊Poets will be asked to create 3-5 short (one page) poems to introduce various months; each poem will be accompanied by spot art to decorate the page around the poem. Months will be assigned based on your preferences shared in the application.🖊Poets will be asked to submit:
- 3 samples (each no more than 500 words for poems or 1,500 words for non-poems) that best demonstrate your style & skill level
- At least 1 sample must be a complete poem within the word count
- Though we encourage all samples to be poems, we will accept up to 2 samples in other formats like narratives, articles, interviews, etc.
- Any excerpts must be edited to function as a standalone piece
- A portfolio with 3–7 total pieces (can include the 3 samples)
- An optional pitch describing what you would like to write for the project
🖊Google Drive links are preferred, but other portfolio sites (AO3, Fanfiction.net, etc.) are acceptable. Please ensure that the text is accessible (i.e. images of stories will not be accepted, and samples should be submitted with high contrast between background & text with legible fonts & font sizes).🖊Please do NOT link to story threads. If one of your pieces is a thread, paste the entire story (or excerpt) into a document for ease of reading.🖊Percy Jackson samples are highly encouraged but not required.
